MEDICINA DE OTRO MUNDO

Ernesto viajó hasta la isla tras enfermar. Tenía problemas respiratorios y los médicos le habían diagnosticado un cáncer de pulmón. Un día, hallándose en Santiago, recibió una comunicación a través de la radio. Los Friendship le invitan a la isla para curar su mal. Le aconsejan que no se sometiera a más exámenes y que no cumpliera con los tratamientos prescritos. Viajó hasta Quemchi donde sería recogido por Alberto y conducido por el Mitilus II hasta la isla. Durante el trayecto se le administra un licor que lo narcotiza hasta la llegada a la isla... Allí será sometido, más tarde, a un tratamiento mediante "sistemas de movimientos ondulatorios y magnetoterapia" así como regeneración de tejidos, logrando curar su mal. Esta es la base de la leyenda en torno a las "curaciones milagrosas" de esta misteriosa sociedad. Según Pacheco los Friendship disponen de una sofisticada tecnología capaz de erradicar todas las enfermedades e interrumpir el proceso de envejecimiento.

El propio Octavio Ortiz sería invitado en tres ocasiones a visitar la isla para curarse de una enfermedad. "Por tres veces Cristina y yo cogimos a las niñas y a los enseres y viajamos a Puerto Montt pero por tres veces regresamos"...

-¿Por qué? –interrumpí

"Se trata de un pasaje sólo de ida. Uno no puede regresar". Ciertamente pude comprobar un buen número de desapariciones en el sur atribuidas a causas desconocidas. "En la última ocasión Ariel me dice que tendremos noticias a través de un emisario y entonces aparece en casa Ernesto de la Fuente". En este punto empiezan a suceder cosas bien extrañas. Octavio empieza a grabar furtivamente, sin permiso de los Friendship, las conversaciones que mantienen a través de la radio. En una ocasión Ariel le dice: "Detente un instante y mira la grabadora porque se te quedó enredada la cinta". Entonces Octavio comprueba estupefacto como, efectivamente, la cinta se halla enredada... ¿Cómo era posible?

Los Friendship predijeron correctamente un terremoto en San Salvador, anunciaron con treinta minutos de antelación la explosión del Challenger y advirtieron de que el cerro San Critóbal, un volcan chileno, estaba activo.

INTERVIENE LA NASA

Todos estos acontecimientos y el multitudinario avistamiento del 17 de agosto de 1985 cambiaron la vida de Octavio Ortiz y su familia. Pegados a la radio trataban cada día de conseguir nuevos datos, más pistas que certificaran la procedencia extraterrestre de sus comunicantes. Incluso cuentan que cierto día, a través de un amigo de la familia, Raimundo Sepúlveda, la agencia espacial norteamericana, la NASA, les hizo llegar un libro en el que debían anotar sus comunicaciones. Junto al cuaderno, de tapas duras y con la palabra "RECORD" impresa en su portada, Sepúlveda les hizo entrega de una caja de bolígrafos que tenían serigrafiados "U.S. GOVERNMENT" en su lomo. ¿Por qué se interesaban los norteamericanos por la experiencia de unos "simples" radioaficionados? ¿Se escondía tras Friendship alguna oscura trama?

Los contactos se interrumpieron hace ahora dos años. Los habitantes de la isla aseguraban que los militares grababan las comunicaciones y que, a partir de entonces, tenían que probar otros métodos de contacto, como la telepatía. Continuará...
